Dancing Lights.

How many factors have to come together to make a great photo? Sometimes its a matter of luck, right place right time and its easy. Other times, it takes so much more. This photo is an example of the so much more category. First the sunset and tide tables had to match up to make sure the beach had enough sand to draw a labyrinth and have it stay for a few hours. Then the weather had to co-operate and not rain. Next, the team at Circles in the Sand had to be available to draw their spectacular art, and in this case it took eight of the Circles in the Sand team members. Because there is such a high probability of messing up a night shot, and with limited time to take a long exposure picture (15 minutes) at twilight, I set up 4 cameras with slightly different settings (educated guessing). With the help of three volunteers, two to walk the labyrinth and another to help with cameras, we all braved the cold, very windy evening to make this picture. All of these things created an experience for me that I cherish and appreciate. It allowed me to crate a photograph that is utterly unique and very rare.
